SHOE'S TOP BASS

TOURNAMENT TRAIL

Jay's Sporting Goods and Yamaha Outboards Open

August 17th, 2024 on Lake St Helen

 TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Shoe’sTop Bass Tournament Trail held its 8th tournament of the 2024 season on Lake St. Helen. This tournament was named “The Yamaha Outboards & Jay’s Sporting Goods Open”, after two of our Great Sponsors.

The weather for the tournament was not the best as we had light rain at start that ended about blast off time. It stayed cloudy until about noon, and then rained for the next 1 ½ hours. It was still raining lightly at weigh-in. The temps were mainly in the 70’s and humid, with normal winds.

The rain did not stop the great fishing. This was one of the best tournaments that Top Bass has had on St. Helen in regards to fish caught. We had 36 limits come to the scales. There were plenty of big fish that got weighed in. We had 1-6#. 2-5#, 5-4# & 23-3# bass come to scales. The big bags probably had more 3+# bass in them that did not get weighed individually. All fish were released alive.

Congratulations to Keith Gyulveszi, from Clare who had an outstanding day with a big limit of 18.57# to take First Place honors. Second Place went to John Franko, from Clare, with another great bag the hit the scales at 17.92#. Not far behind was Mike Parsons, from Clare, with 17.39#, which contained Big Bass for the tournament at a whopping 6.03#. We had a tie for Fourth Place with Steve Glynn, from Midland taking the 4th Place spot with 15.58#, which because of his 5.96# bass, gave him the spot. Ties are decided by who has the bigger bass. In Fifth Place was Bill Booth, from Midland with the same 15.58#, but Billy’s biggest bass was 4.15#, and moved him to 5th. We have had several ties this season, and it is always decided by the big bass. It shows just how important 1/100th of a pound can make the difference.
